Online Counseling

Our Philosophy

We know asking for help is not easy and we recognize there is uncertainty in what to expect. Code 1 Wellness offers HIPAA compliant services and goes a step further to ensure your confidentiality remains one of our highest priorities. The stigma behind asking for help does not belong in our organization as we truly recognize the strength and courage you have just by looking at this site.

Our counselors are specially trained to work with you, our responders, in gaining knowledge of your culture. We provide a wide range of modalities to meet your needs whether long-term or situationally based. We can work with you individually, as a couple and/or with your entire family. We do not just “get you past it,” we walk with you through your journey towards a better mind.

If you’re ready to start a better life and you want counseling support, we’d love to join you in this journey!

You're Not Alone

We Understand

Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety is a normal and healthy emotion all people experience. It signals us to be alert to important situations and to be ready for impending danger. However, when worry and fear become significantly more intense than is warranted and begins to interfere with life functions, an anxiety disorder is likely to be the reason. Depression is different from anxiety. Rather than feeling anxious and nervous feelings of gloom and melancholy overwhelm. Feeling sad or down after experiencing a loss or disappointment is an emotion that everyone feels at one time or another. However, when the low moods and sadness is severe and lasts for long periods of time, it could be due to depression.

Grief is a natural response to loss. This could include the death of a loved one, a relationship break-up, a miscarriage, the loss of a cherished dream, a serious illness, an abortion, or a job loss. There is no “normal” timetable to the grieving process. If you have or are currently suffering through a loss, some grief counseling can be extremely beneficial. Just talking about your pain is very helpful in and of itself, and also having a professional who can give you guidance on how to cope with the pain is just as critical.

Marriage & Family

Relationships are hard. Sustaining a long-term relationship or marriage takes effort, dedication, and lots of hard work. Stress and demands can take a toll on even the most stable of relationships. Marriage and Family Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that addresses the behaviors of all family members and the way these behaviors affect each individual member and the family unit as a whole. As such, treatment is usually divided into individual therapy in conjunction with couples and/or family therapy.

Trauma & PTSD

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is not singularly relegated to those who experience trauma directly in their lives. Responders are also vulnerable to PTSD through their repeated exposure to “aversive details of traumatic events,” as per the DSM-5. These events are overwhelming to the central nervous system and often have long-lasting effects. When our central nervous system is overwhelmed, the body holds onto the traumatic memory, while the brain has adapted a series of responses that shut down advanced thinking. This shut down causes the brain to react to any stimuli that creates a trigger causing the trauma survivor to go into “fight, flight or freeze” mode. Specific treatments for PTSD, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), are designed to help with the symptoms and are very effective in overcoming traumatic experiences.

Adolecents & Teens

Adolescence can be a trying time for teenagers as they mature emotionally and try to handle new responsibilities in school, at home, and in planning for the future. It becomes all the more difficult if a teen is going through another issue like their parents getting divorced, difficulty learning in school, or losing an old group of friends. Sometimes just being able to talk to an adult who isn’t their parent can help them process everything going on in their world and make positive changes. Online Counseling provides a safe, confidential place for teens to better understand this stage in their life, understand their parents better, and learn to love themselves.
